Weekend of rain and mud
at the Swiss Power Cup
On Saturday the start of the Team
Relay was at 18:00, it was a very technical and intense race.
The cold humid weather was almost unbearable. After racing for
9 minutes at maximum effort I had to wait for a half an hour in
the freezing rain in my soaked racing jersey before going out
as hard as I can for another lap. I went to the hotel with only
one goal in mind: have a long hot shower as soon as possible.
Since the race was late, sleep was a challenge this night, my
body kept the “alert mode” for quite a while…
On Sunday, it was a harsh race on a very technical and narrow
circuit. Many top athletes were present; one small mistake could
result in a loss of many positions. I had a conservative start
because we had six laps to go. But, already in the first downhill,
two girls crashed just in front of me and it was impossible to
avoid falling. I got up right away and saw that my suspension
lock was damaged…I was in 20th position at this time. From
then on, I focused on catching as many positions as possible:
I finished in 6th position!
I am happy with the result and to get back to speed after a long
plane ride. Fortunately the crash did not have more consequence.
Now it is time to recover and be confident for the next races.
A hug from rainy France,
Jaqueline
