Brazil Bike Tour
- April 2010
We are back in the country
of futebol (soccer)…

… and in the paradise of mountain
biking…

…start of a 350 km two-wheel trip
to the sea…

…and to get there, one mountain after
another awaits us with all kinds of technical trails …

…having too much fun, my bike pals
cant even wait until I snap a shot...

…so I hurry to pass them to get a
shot of their face…

… we follow some parts of the Estrada
Real (royal street) - a path that was used by the Portuguese to
bring the gold from Brazil inlands to the ships …

… what an incredible scenery!…

…with my headcam, I can film everything
without letting go of my handlebar…

…motorbike trails eroded by the tropical
rain from December to March, sculpt great trails for mountain
biking…

… when it gets hot, we can go for
a swim in a waterfall …

…nothing better than Comida Caseira
(typical brazilian food such as rice, beans and meat)to replenish
the muscles after a few hours of cycling…

…a family picture on the historic
valley road of Silveira…

…which brings us through cobbled
street villages…

…a nice asphalt section with a great
view of the mountains we rode over the day before …

…before seeing the sea from the top
of the next hill…

…where the beach awaits us after
a 20 km infernal downhill...

…for a swim in the turquoise water,
even though at 25ºdegrees Celsius (77° F), the water
is less refreshing than at Old Orchard, Maine (...where the water
is just above freezing) …

…where we can discover
treasures beneath the water: a piece of gold dropped by the Portuguese
or a beautiful starfish...
which reminds me that we saw capivaras
(the largest amphibian rodent) on a lakeside at the beginning
of our trip while kayaking …

Have a great dry/wet training summer!
