The
season started HOT!
From
-10ºC to 30ºC, the first race of the MTB season is done! The
circuit was beautiful with a nice ocean view and one stretch on
the beach. The passing was a bit complicated, and there was lot
of flat sections, which is not my strongest point…one important
factor were the cactuses, they were everywhere and falling in
this terrain could result in a big collection of needles to bring
as a souvenir under the skin.
The race was very hard and all the “top riders” were
there. My start was good, but I was a bit over pace, and had to
“pay for that” on the first 2 laps, on the 3rd, I
was able to recover and start to gain positions until the end
of the race. Some mechanical problems but overall it was a good
first race of the season…30th and 46 points UCI.
After the race we
went to explore Curacao, we rode in Christopher park, on the West
side of the island, where the most beautiful beaches are. It was
nice to enjoy the island. Curacao

We
arrived in Quebec on Tuesday and, on Thursday I went to Brazil,
for the first stage of the Copa Internacional de Mountain Bike,
class 2 race. It was very nice to see my friends and see the amazing
structure of the race. The temperature was even warmer, 40ºC,
and I knew I would have be smart to save energy. Everything went
fine and I won the race, without any mechanical problem. Back
now in Quebec, very motivated and really expecting a good season.
Now I am concentrating on the training and “go for it”
in the next stages of the World Cup in May.
See
you and have a nice ride!
