JAQUEMTB NEWS #10 - 2006

Another WOLRD Cup! All the best athletes from around the world were here in Scotland for the 4th round of the world Cup.
The weather was like expected, non stop rain, but the circuit was perfect for MTB even wet, and how it has to be.
The course had very nice downhills and a 2.5 km uphill at the beginning of the race. It was technical and a bit longer than normally (9.5km per lap). The race started in a pouring rain, and I had a good start, but at the middle of the first uphill my legs felt like two blocks of cement, very stiff and it was not going well…because of that a lot of girls passed me and I had big traffic on the first downhill.
After that, I managed to move up some positions and finished 39th.
The question was in my mind, why did not work out? It was a great course, nice technical sessions, long up hills, I did a good warm up…
Today I had the answer, I started to pack my bike and turned the back wheel and the brake was touching the wheels…the whole race…that was the reason why I felt it was so hard to push on the pedals. Lack of luck day, but always learning the small details that make the difference.
Have a nice week to you all.
